MadagascarIn 2005 a questionnaire survey was carried out in all three study areas to describe the local farming system and to identfy potential risk factors for the introduction of African Swine Fever into pig herds in Madagascar. In 2006 a participatory study helped to complete the descriptive information gathered during the questionnaire survey and sampling of domestic pigs was carried out in all included communities to estimate prevalence. In addition an abatoir survey was implemented and the results will help to estimate the prevalence. Of each animal several samples were taken and are being analysed with different diagnostic tests which will be used to assess the performance of the various tests.
