African Swine Fever Virus: Development of Vaccines and Epidemiological Investigations

This research project is an international cooperation aiming at the improvement of collaboration among involved project partners in Europe and Africa. The project is funded by the Wellcome Trust and runs from 2005 to 2010.

Main objectives: to increase the understanding of the epidemiology of the disease in affected areas to develop a vaccine by using different approaches and last but not least, to enhance collaboration and communication among ASF experts	In the section Virus you will find important information on the virus and if you want to know what we are up to, check out the sections Epidemiology and Vaccine Development. There you will find detailed information on the objectives and activities carried out in the context of this project. If you would like to find out who is involved in the project, check out the section Who we are where you also find our contact details. The section Diagnosis provides an overview of currently used diagnostic tools, in addition assets and drawbacks of the various protocols are discussed. In the section Download, you find all kind interesting files regarding ASF and also files that are used in the various studies of the project. In Links are listed some links to interesting websites in regard to ASF.

Introduction to Participatory Epidemiology

• This pre-meeting course is open to all Wellcome Trust ASF project partners and will run from the 22nd to the 24th of October in Madrid. Check out the programme here. Contact Solenne Costard for further information and to apply for the course.

June 2007

• This years annual Wellcome Trust ASF Meeting is taking place in Madrid on the 25th and 26th of October 2007.
